Retail | RFID Solution for Jewelry Store

In the jewelry industry, jewelry retailers can never too cautious to track those small, high-value items every day. Manual count is time-consuming and error-prone, and especially inappropriate for famous jewelry stores which carries hundreds of pieces of fine jewelry. One small mistake can cause great loss. RFID providers - with tags, readers and software - automates this process by reducing time and labor cost required for inventory counts, eliminating shrinkage and providing better control over store inventory. It frees up salespeople to help customers, in the end, increases the volume of products it sells.

One retail jewelry store in Jordan is employing a UHF RFID solution. Delicate items like rings, necklaces, and bracelets are affixed to nice RIFD tags. With the RFID functionality, employees can quickly inventory tagged items by passing a Chainway handheld RFID reader over jewelry displays. Manual inventory used to take more than half an hour, now the technology fastens this process to less than 15 minutes, according to the store manager. “Now we can achieve an over 98% inventory accuracy. We saw our RFID investment pay for itself almost as soon as it was take live.”

The device Chainway C4000 handheld RFID reader meets every need of a jewelry store which asks for an intelligent inventory management. High performance RFID sensor reads those tags in seconds and the results can be seen on the 4” display. Stable Wi-Fi connectivity enables employees to transmit real time data to the store’s backend server for further analysis and management.

The additional benefit of efficient and accurate inventory counting is that staff members have more time to interact with customers. Customer satisfaction is one way to boost retail sales.

Every RFID tag has a unique ID number. During the pilot, as a piece of jewelry is sold, the employee uses another Chainway C4000 handheld RFID reader to read the tag in order to remove its ID number from the store’s inventory list, indicating that it has been purchased.

At day’s end, store employee scans the left jewelry on trays and store manager reviews the details of the transaction. Any discrepancies can be quickly detected and determined if it is because an item is missing or because the item has been sold to a customer but the staff forgot to delete its ID number. Then manager can conduct any necessary follow-up investigations.
