Warehousing | Barcode Streamlines Internet Retailing

A listed electronic retailer in Thailand has worked with Shenzhen Chainway Information Technology Co., Ltd (Chainway) to streamline its warehouse management.

This retailer in Thailand is developing at an incredibly fast pace. The output of its warehouse in Ubon Ratchathani, for example, has been increased to 3 times as compared with last year. Manual operations can no longer meet the high requirement of today’s competitive world. The company has interests in barcoding technology that can boost the efficiency of its order-fulfillment and shipping process. After several rounds of selection, the company finally chose Chainway barcode capable handheld computer C5000 to perform in its warehousing process. 

Electronic commerce is fast, convenient, and trending a new way of shopping and delivering. Customers can browse and order products of interest 24 hours a day from anywhere as long as they have internet access, and with Chainway handheld computer, the retailer can quickly and cost-effectively deliver best-in-class online order fulfillment right from warehouse’s slot to customer’s door. 

Integrated with 1d/2d barcode scanner, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, Chainway C5000 reads, stores, and transmit data of receiving, putting away and picking. 

Fast Receiving
After ensuring that all parcels are in good condition, use Chainway handheld computer to scan the parcel barcodes to verify product type and quantity. Only when it matches the purchase order can the warehouse receive the products. Data of receiving is sent to the company’s warehouse management system (WMS) via Wi-Fi connection simultaneously. 

Quick Put-away
When shipments are staged for putting away, warehouse operators scan the item barcode to know the detailed put-away information. Then transport the material to the selected warehouse slot. The correct destination of the goods is double checked by scanning the slot barcode and the item barcode. Chainway handheld computer will send a warning if it is not the right slot. 

Efficient Picking
The WMS receives orders from customers and pushes the pick lists to Chainway handheld computer based on “shortest pick path”. Operators begin to pick the correct stock from the correct slot as C5000 indicates. When all the required stock has been picked out for an order, place them into a box attached to a barcode delivery label, waiting to be delivered. 

Accurate Inventory Control
Every step is tracked and recorded on the company’s back-end system thanks to the accurate and stable performance of Chainway handheld computer. The retailer now has real-time access to essential data whenever and wherever they need it.
