Mobile Computer Based Healthcare Solution for Hospitals

Background
Healthcare industry all over the world cannot afford to compromise with the accuracy and efficiency of services. Therefore, most of the big and small hospitals have already implemented the Hospital management system but it does end here. There is still a long way to face new challenges in data collection. A study confirms that most of the medical accident in a hospital happens due to manual data collection and verification. This could be a big loss for a hospital reputation. So, it becomes necessary for a hospital to cop up with the latest technology available to improve the healthcare facilities.

Challenges
  1. Every time the staff in the hospital has to carry medical reports to treat a patient, which is not comfortable.
  2. Accurate verification for medication is not possible. Staff manually records the data of which medicine is given to which patients which has a great risk of serious error.
  3. During the patient’s check-up, nurses have to note down all the data on paper and later record on the computer manually. This becomes a time-consuming process and utilizes most of the time in records maintenance.

Solutions
After analyzing all the issues faced by hospital management, Chainway came up with a mobile computer solution. This mobile was integrated with a barcode scanner and wireless network. As the device was portable, so it deployed to provide bedside patient identification. A nurse with a mobile computer could capture the data by scanning the wristband barcode attached with the patient and verify what drugs & specimens are prescribed by the doctors. Nurse scanned the drug’s barcode before giving it to the patient. The entire process was checked automatically to ensure that the right drug was given to the right patient. From the admission to the discharge, all the activities of patents such as clinical treatment details, tests, surgery etc. could be tracked effectively.

Effects
  1. The solution has improved the nurse’s efficiency by simplifying their work.
  2. Medical errors have reduced significantly. So medical accidents have also reduced respectively.
  3. Hospital services efficiency has increased so high that patient condition can be monitored by doctors anytime and anywhere. All the patient data are stored and shared within the staff in real-time.
  4. The system proved to be a great tool to monitor nurses’ performances and provide further tanning for their weak areas.
  5. The system develops a great trust for the hospital. Now patients feel safe and can expect a top-class treatment.
