UHF RFID Solution for a Big Retail Chain

Background
France is the one-stop destination for the latest fashion. Visitors from all over the world come here to buy trendy items such as handbags, watches, and apparel etc. LV is a chain of stores for clothing, handbags and other items. The company has a number of stores in France. With the increase in store and inventory size, LV realized the need for a handheld based RFID solution which could manage the inventory from a long distance without compromising the accuracy and efficiency.

Challenges
  1. Increase in items categories and fast moving of inventories had challenged the slow and inaccurate manual inventory management process.
  2. Quick decision making as per the market demand was not possible. There was no real-time access to the inventory and sales data, which was very important for immediate decision making for a regular supply of items and market strategy planning.
  3. Stock mismatching was another issue faced by inventory operators. Manual stock tacking was time-consuming and error-prone.
Solution
LV’s handbags were tagged with a UHF RFID tag, which has a unique id for each bag. A stock operator at the store could capture the stock data within a few minutes by using Chainway C4050 UHF device and update the stock in backend database simultaneously. So, inventory could be updated in Realtime.

Effects
  1. Working efficiency of the employee has remarkably improved. Now employee could focus on sales by spending more time with walk-in customers rather than indulging in stock maintenance.
  2. Real-time visible of stock and sales data helps the management to plan a smooth flow of inventory and marketing strategies.
  3. RFID based system has replaced the time taking and inaccurate stock tacking process into a fast and 100% accurate system.
