The store was big and offer a wide variety of jewelry products. But the operation of inventory management was manual and subject of high error rate.
Sales data was stored in personal computers and it was not available in real-time. Because of this, the marketing team could not analyze and developed marketing strategies on the basis of sale pattern and demands of customers. With the result, the store was facing high competition in the market.
The store had many stores in Thailand, but sales data could not be synchronized centrally. Which lead to poor inventory planning.

C5000 device was integrated with a UHF RFID module and it could read the RFID tag with a distance of up to 5 meters. The device had Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity for Real-time data transfer to the main database. All the jewelry items showcased in a store were tagged with RFID tags. Later an operator in store captured all the tags with the help of C5000 mobile computer.
Inventory Management - The capture data was stored in the main database and synchronized with the inventory data. This is how the database could be matched with the real-time stock tacking.
Customer Management - In an event where a customer asked for a product's specification and price. Sales team could easily share the information with the customer just by scanning the jewelry tag. Not only this, now staff could generate the estimate, quotation or invoice for the product immediately.
Effects
Now customer queries could be answered immediately which has been reflected in form of high customer satisfaction and more sales.
Earlier, the stock taking process took hours and could not be performed frequently. But with the RFID system, a stock-taking process just takes a few minutes and can be performed randomly.
All the stores are now interconnected. Store headquarter has all the real-time sales data for all the jewelry items. It helps the marketing department to develop best marketing strategies based on real-time data and consumer behavior.
Adopting modern technology has enhanced the store brand image among customers.
