China-based Logistics Company Deployed C6000 for Inventory Management
Background E-commerce industry in China has shown a massive growth in the past few years and logistics companies are considered to be a key player for achieving this growth. But increasing demand has created some issues for logistics companies as well. A large number of stock-in and stock-out during peak seasons has slow down the logistics operation and manually inventory sorting, packaging & distribution lead to errors. “Cainiao” a known logistics company in China was facing the same issue. This case studies are about how did Cainiao overcome these issues by apply barcode solution in the warehouses.
Challenges
The logistics company was manually recording the inventory items moving in and out from the warehouse. This process was slow with a high possibility of errors.
It took a lot of time at the time of delivery of items. This generally end-up with customer dissatisfaction.
The whole process was manual and the real-time update was not possible. In case of any package lost, it was difficult to identify the package.
Solutions Considering the above problem, Cainiao contacted Chainway for deploying its industry-leading mobile computers in warehouses. At the time of dispatch of items, a unique barcode with product’s dispatch information is pasted on the item. Operator uses a Chainway C6000 mobile computer to scan the barcode and update in back end server. When that item reaches at trans-shipment center, again an operator scans the package and update in central database to make sure that same package is received.
Effects
The automatic process has made the logistics operation more efficient and faster.
Find a lost package is a lot easier, as data is now available on a real-time basis.
At high-pressure situation, the company can timely deliver the goods to the customer. It helps in developing the brand image.
