Automatic Ticket validation solution for Olympic game

Officially known as the Sochi 2014, the 2014 Winter Olympics were a major multi-sport event organized by the Sochi Organizing Committee (SOOC), was held from 7th to 23rd February 2014 at Sochi in Russia. The event happened to be first of its kind event since the breakup of the Soviet Union in 1991, where some 98 events in 15 various disciplines were held. The Games saw record-breaking participation from 88 countries, surpassing the earlier record of 82 qualifying countries for the Winter Olympics in Vancouver. For smooth and secure execution of the Games, the Committee sought cooperation from Chainway and instituted some C5000 handheld readers for verification of an identity of visitors as well as of athletes, which also shortened the entry time of the athletes for enhanced identity verification.
 
Challenges

Solutions
With the evolution of technology, Chainway swapped the traditional paper tickets with RFID tickets. C5000, configured with barcode scanning and writing functions reads ticket in a nanosecond. It also verifies the identity of the spectator simultaneously. The same information is transmitted via wireless networks to an online backend system intermittently. This method validates tickets swiftly and accurately, which arrests fake tickets and guarantees tranquil progress of Winter Olympics.
 
Effects
  • The profound Identification System brought about a great metamorphosis as far as ticket validation is concerned, which made a marked difference minimizing athletes’ entry time into the venues and at the same time reduced cases of forged tickets and identity fraudulence.
