RFID Based Animal Management Solution

For the Thai Royal Family, it is of utmost importance to keep a check and intensify the management of animals. The animal breeders thus need to keep themselves updated of animals’ real-time growth conditions and at the same time, they need to ensure that the animals are in the best of their health, which is done by regular medical and physical examinations. With the assistance of Chainway, they have been able to devise an intelligent RFID system for a more comprehensive, efficient and convenient animal management.

Challenges
  • The manual method of keeping a track of the feeding patterns of the animals is less efficient, strenuous and error-prone.
  • The handwritten or digitally saved documentations are not easy to procure and investigate for further processes.
  • Difficult to transfer the animal’s data with other concern departments.
  • The identification and verification of a particular animal, in order to discern its vaccination profile, is a strenuous and tedious task which makes it difficult to differentiate between animals who have been already vaccinated and those who have not been vaccinated.

Solutions
With the introduction of unique RFID tags, animals would be inferred with an individual tag, exactly like an identity card. Chainway mobile computers are used to capture data and register key information about any particular animal (like its birth, feeding patterns, vaccination profiles etc.) which eventually could easily be scanned for further processes for e.g. to analyze its birth date, physical condition, breeder information etc. This information can then be easily recorded and transmitted to the backend system.

Effects
  • New system facilitates a better collection of animal data and reduces the error rate.
  • Large storage space allows a huge spectrum of data to be saved and accessed at any given point of time so that the administrators could easily annex any preceding data.
