Mobile Biometrics Computer: A Faultless Solution for Citizen Data Protection

The police departments in Colombia need to manage and classify large amount of information about the citizens. The local police department required a compact and portable device for the categorization and classification of the citizens to enhance the efficiency and at the same time maintaining the ambiguity of the members of the city for a proper channelization of information and data.

Challenges
  • Due to the population mobility, the department needs to ensure registration and documentation of data in a mobile app vis a vis device.
  • The traditional method of stationary fingerprint registration is outdated and affects the efficiency of the police department which might result in a callous approach while protecting and safeguarding data and information about the city.
  • (A few minor changes) The fingerprint data needs to be protected to avoid data breach. At the same time the hardware vis a vis the device would need some variable specifications to avoid fraudulence and treachery.

Solution

Colombia government collaborated with Shenzhen Chainway Information Technology Co. Ltd. To enhance data protection and developed a software aimed at providing anti-fake fingerprint feature. C71 mobile computer has integrated Morpho MSO CBM E-3 module to actualize high secure fingerprints capturing and identification. The data can be then transmitted to the backend system of the police department and the documented data thus end up being encrypted by end-user app for its secure verification and documentation.
The device comes equipped with another function called the NFC which can be used to scan and read HFIC cards such as ID cards, GPS to locate positioning data along with a camera to take site photographs and their transmission to backend via GPRS in real time.

Effects
  • As an effect of this up gradation, the police department has seen a marked improvement in their work efficiency and has upgraded themselves to an intelligent work force model of citizen management.
  • With the new system, citizen and immigration management is now automatic and less time-consuming.
  • Now management can easily deal with any incident because device facilitates image capturing and GPS system.
  • The data and other information can be documented and transmitted over the wireless network to the backend system in real time, making the whole channelization of information convenient and accessible for administrators to manage high-end security and maintain confidentiality of the data.
