A Modern Technology to Safeguard Farmers from Illegal Rubber Selling
Illegal rubber selling in the Ivory Coast harms the interests of many farmers by augmenting illegal rubber selling. With a vision to safeguard the interests and livelihood of farmers, the Agricultural Ministry of Ivory Coast needed to upgrade their logistics with modern technology and devices.
Challenges
The identification and verification of illegal harvest at the end of buyers and organizations was a time consuming, tedious and to an extent impossible task.
The actual statistics could not be retrieved and accessed in real time for the lack of an upgraded technology which led to disarrangement and confusion for the government policies to actualize and document the records.
The sale patterns could not be regulated and verified to every single individual that led to further ambiguity.
Solution With the introduction of modern technology, every farmer would register himself/herself at the government’s office. After this they will be issued an authentic RFID card. AT the time of selling, they will need to present this card to be accessed anytime for verification by any department. This system would again be connected to the farmers’ bank account as well for complete transparency with regard to any transactions.
Effects
The association of the farmer’s account to their identity records ensures autonomous regulation of the rubber industry.
The technology also abstains illegal harvest selling by circumventing doubtful and corrupt sellers because only registered farmer would be able to sell their harvest.
The data is intermittently transmitted for documentation to the backend system in real time so that the entire concerned departments are aware of the rubber production and capacity.
