Background
STO Express (STO) is one of China’s oldest express companies. It has a nationwide network of 400+ offices and 1000+ pick up/drop off locations. China is a fast growing market for e-payment and e-commerce. To keep its competitive edges, STO is eager to improve its express shipping and delivering system.
Challenges
Each step of the express transportation is recorded manually and then input into a backend system via a fixed PC back in the office. It consumes time and is prone to errors.
There is no monitoring system for incidents like damaged or lost parcels.
Handwriting pickup and delivery proof need extra effort to be scanned or shot and then uploaded into the system. It increases the workload of express men.
Solution
STO cooperates with Chainway to improve its express system. After knowing the requirements, Chainway suggests to integrate 1D barcode scanner and wireless connectivity into its mobile computer C6000. Express men use C6000 to scan the parcel barcode to learn details. They then send this information to the backend server under their account.
Effects
With accurate real-time express data transmission, customers can view the live condition of their orders online.
Each step has its accountability and responsibility express man. Incidents can quick locate at which step incidents may happen.
STO gets a more intelligent express system and the delivery becomes faster.
